Website and online growth for dental practices

Almost everyone looking for a new dentist starts on Google and chooses within a few minutes. The practice that is at the top, is clear about fees and registration, and lets people book an appointment straight away wins that choice.

How customers search

Where these customers come from

Search behaviour differs greatly per trade. This is what people type in before they end up at a business like yours, and so what we set up the site for.

  1. ‘tandarts’ (dentist) plus the town name: by far the most searches, with the map pack at the top
  2. ‘tandarts die nieuwe patiënten aanneemt’ (dentist taking on new patients): the question most practice sites do not answer
  3. Treatments with a price question behind them: implant, crown, braces, dental cleaning
  4. ‘spoed tandarts’ (emergency dentist): on mobile, in a hurry, and almost always a phone call
What belongs on your site

The elements that make the difference in this trade

Not every website needs the same thing. These are the elements where we most often see gains in this industry, and that are missing from most sites.

Whether you take on new patients

At the top of the homepage, not tucked away on a contact page. Stating honestly that registrations are closed saves you phone calls and the searcher disappointment, and builds trust for when you open again.

Fees, or a reference to the NZa rates

Dental fees are set nationally, so you can be completely open about them. Practices that do this demonstrably get fewer price questions on the phone.

Booking an appointment online

The most important conversion on your site. A link to your appointment system or, if that is not possible, a short form with a call-back request.

The team, with photos

People choose a dentist on trust. Real photos of your practitioners do more than any text, especially for anxious patients.

Practical information people actually look for

Parking, opening hours, emergency arrangements outside office hours, and whether you have experience with anxious patients or children.

A dental practice does not sell treatments but trust, and that trust is won or lost online in a few minutes. Someone with toothache, or someone who has just moved house, searches, compares three practices and calls one.

Where practice sites usually go wrong

Most practice websites were built at some point and never touched again. It shows: outdated team photos, opening hours that are no longer correct, and nowhere an answer to the only question the searcher has: will they take me here?

On top of that, almost everything in this sector revolves around Google’s map pack: those three practices with a little map, above the ordinary results. You do not get in there with a nice website alone, but with a complete Google Business Profile, up-to-date details and reviews. How that works is explained in what is local SEO (in Dutch).

What we do for practices

We build the site with the structure that works in this sector: a homepage that immediately answers the registration question, separate pages per treatment so you are found for specific searches, and a team page with real photos.

We also manage your Google Business Profile, keep your opening hours and holiday closures up to date, and make sure reviews get a proper reply. Every month you see in your client portal how many people came to your site via Google and how many of them requested an appointment.

What we are honest about

Local visibility is not a switch you flip. A practice that is on page two now usually climbs over months, not weeks, and in a big city with twenty practices that takes longer than in a village with three. What we can tell you in advance: which searches people do in your town and who currently shows up for them.

And if your practice is full with a waiting list of a year, investing in visibility now is money thrown away. Then a good, honest website is enough.

Our advice for this industry

Where we would start

Practice website + being found in your region
Website
one-off
Being found in your region
monthly

A practice site needs enough pages for treatments and the team, and in this sector local visibility is practically the only channel that counts. If you want just the website first, that is possible too.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we get most often in this trade

What does a website for a dental practice cost?

It depends on what needs to be on it, such as treatment pages, a team page and online booking. You pay for the build once, then a fixed monthly fee for hosting and maintenance. If you also want to be found in your area, a monthly fee is added, for at least six months. Upfront you get one quote, excluding VAT.

As a dentist, am I allowed to advertise treatments?

Advertising dental care is allowed but bound by rules: no misleading claims, no guarantees about treatment results and restraint with patient photos. We keep campaigns and copy within those rules and show you in advance what will go live.

We are not taking on new patients at the moment. Does a website still make sense?

Yes, and then it is even more important. A clear notice saves you phone calls, and people who drop out now remember where they can go later. As soon as you have room again, the visibility is already there.

Can you connect to our appointment system?

In most cases yes, via a link or an embeddable booking window. If a connection is not possible, we build a form that goes straight to the practice mailbox so the front desk can simply pick it up.

Curious what this means for your business?

Book a no-obligation consultation. We look at your current situation together and you get concrete, honest advice, even if that advice is to do nothing for now.
